Summary of Paris Vendetta

12.40 a.m. Copenhagen. Characters from previous bestsellers like The Charlemagne Pursuit  and The Alexandria Link  also appear in the latest title The Paris Vendetta.

Steve Berry, like James Rollins , successfully blends contemporary scenario and historical mystery in all his novels.

This time he goes after Napoleon and his buried treasure. Malone is assisted by his long time Danish friend Henrik Thorvaldsen. Well Malone gets into the race because of Henrik. Thorvaldson is still mourning and is obsessed by his son's assassination seven years ago.

He wants to catch the culprits. Now he has a lead. He finds out that an organization called the Paris Club is behind his son's killing.Henrik also finds out that the Club is now on a quest of their own and they will stop at nothing to achieve their objective even if it means global war.

This is where Bonaparte comes into picture. The treasure he looted from various sources was buried in a place which only he knew the whereabouts of. The treasure is lost in time until now.The Club seems to have found a on a mission to find it and Malone again fights odds to survive and maintain the status quo.Like previous novels, Berry maintains his style here. Henrik has previously helped Malone and now Malone is returning the favor. The action here is good although it takes a while to start. It's a good read for those who like Steve Berry and James Rollins.

A frank opinion would be the new title is a little similar to The Alexandria Link as in both cases there is a unique treasure-hunt involved, but here Malone is not threatened;his friend is. And the chase is different as there is a map here and the landscape is quite different. Although the action starts after a while, there are the Berry- twists in the tale and the climax is good.
